Brad Foote Gear Works believes in total customer satisfaction. We achieve this through continual improvement, which is the responsibility of every employee. We strive for better quality, reduced costs and increased market share.

Continual Improvement

Brad Foote Gear Works has achieved a standard of quality excellence through the implementation of a Quality Management System. In 1993 we became the first gear company to be ISO 9001 Certified. We are audited and held to that standard every 6 months by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance.

New Machinery – We have the most state of the art gear manufacturing equipment available. On board gear inspection at the tooth grinders is verified by a Zeiss CMM. The CMM has an X travel of 1.6 meters, a Y travel of 2.4 meters and the accuracy to meet the most stringent customer requirements. Computerized reports can be generated at all inspection locations, ensuring our customers' tooth geometry requirements are met.
Our CNC-controlled Micro-hardness tester ensures that the metallurgical requirements of our customers are met along the entire profile height, not just at mid-height, on case carburized or induction hardened parts. Hard copy results can be generated; the computerized results are kept for as long as our customers require.

New Employees – We have the most talented and capable machinists/technicians around. Our high quality craftsmanship is achieved through our state-of-the-art equipment combined with the creative abilities of our highly trained staff.

Better Quality

AGMA Q15 (A2) - Brad Foote has been a member of the American Gear Manufacturer's Association since 1924. During its membership, Brad Foote has helped to establish many of the industry's standards through committee work, research and the direction of three of the association's Presidents. Brad Foote can assure AGMA quality levels by cross-checking our tooth grinders' on-board computers with the Zeiss Gear Pro Coordinate Measuring Machine.

Inspection of large gearing - Brad Foote has the capacity to:

  • Check bevel gearing up to 63" in Zeiss CMM
  • Nital etch gearing up to 60" outside diameter in our tanks  
  • Shot peen in-house to AMS-S-13165
  • Heat treat to AGMA 3 quality levels
  • Tooth to tooth induction harden spurs, helicals, internals, and spiral bevel gears with our in-house designed, CNC-controlled induction hardening machines.
  • Verify gearbox assemblies utilizing the latest tests for vibration, tooth contact, noise, temperature rise, ratio and leaks.

Reduced Costs

Brad Foote is working with its employees to maximize efficiency and minimize manufacturing losses, ensuring that our pricing remains competitive and our deliveries meet our customers' requirements.

Increased market share

Brad Foote's quality has allowed it to dominate gear markets in oil, mining, and paper. We now have new customers in the government, automotive and wind energy industries.
